The athlete improved her result by almost 10 seconds
Ten-time Olympic gold medallist Katie Ledecky set a new world record in the women’s 1500 m freestyle shortstroke at the second round of the 2022 World Cup in Toronto.
The 25 year old finished in 15:08.24 minutes, 40.58 seconds ahead of her nearest rival, the Brazilian Beatriz Dizotti.
The previous record belonged to Sari Welbrock of Germany, she clocked 15.18.01 in 2019.
